The winery was built in 1882 by the grandfather of filmmaker García Berlanga and originally called Casa de la Viña, named after the place where it is located and which appears as such in the Cadastre of the Marquis of Ensenada.

Slightly more rainy than average. Sprouting began in early May in a homogeneous manner and with good development due to a rainy and cool April. Ripening was slow and lasted until the end of September. As a result of storms at the end of August and beginning of September, the grapes were harvested in mid-October.

Viticulture

100% Bobal from goblet-trained, dry-farmed vines over 100 years old at an altitude of 731 meters with a mixed clay-limestone soil and a yield per vine of 1 kg. Organic and biodynamic vineyards from a plot of 4.5 hectares located on a small hill. The grapes were harvested in the second half of October.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested at optimum maturity. Alcoholic fermentation takes place partially in French oak barrels and the wine is then racked into new French oak barrels where malolactic fermentation takes place and the wine is aged for 14 months with “bâtonnage”.

Tasting notes

  • Color: High layer and intense ruby color.
  • Nose: Ripe red fruits predominate along with Mediterranean balsamic aromas such as lavender and a mineral background.
  • Palate: black and red berries as well as notes of fig and toasted aromas. An intense, vibrant wine with firm tannins. With a lot of presence, mineral background and good acidity that augurs an excellent future for this wine.

ELABORACIÓN Y CRIANZA:
La fermentación alcohólica tiene lugar parcialmente en barricas de roble francés trasegando después el vino a barricas nuevas de roble francés donde se desarrollo la fermentación maloláctica y se cría posteriormente durante 12 meses aplicándoles “ bâtonnage”.

NOTAS DE CATA:
• Color: Capa muy alta e intense de color rubín>
• Nariz: Predominancia de las frutas rojas maduras junto con aromas balsámicos mediterráneos como la lavanda. Con un fondo mineral también.
• Boca: Catamos las bayas negras y rojas así como las notas de higo junto a aromas tostados. Un vino con mucha presencia, redondo con taninos suaves y fondo mineral con una buena acidez y grado alcohólico que auguran un excelente futuro a este vino.

100 % Bobal de viñas en vaso en secano de más de 100 años a una altitud de 731 metros con un suelo mixto de arcillo –calcáreo y un rendimiento de cepa de 2,5 Kg. La parcela enclavada en un pequeño cerro cuenta con 4,5 Has.
