Our origins
Casa de la Viña
Fidel García Berlanga, grandfather of the Spanish filmmaker Luis García Berlanga, born in Camporrobles in 1859, built in 1882 “Casa de la Viña”, a winery with a manor house where the wine from his 500 hectares of adjoining vineyards was already being produced.
After serving as mayor of Utiel, in 1894 he was appointed president of the Diputación de Valencia, a position in which he distinguished himself for his campaigns in defense of the interests of Valencian winegrowers. In 2016 we carried out a comprehensive rehabilitation process of Casa de la Viña keeping the old fermentation trulli that have been recovered for the bottle aging of still wines and the rhyme of our cava.
The soil
Low yields of high quality
Located at an altitude of 750 meters, our soils are calcareous-clay with a loamy texture, i.e. with a balance between sand and clay that facilitates drainage when it rains abundantly and water retention in times of drought.
These characteristics offer us the possibility of making qualitative wines with very low production.
The climate
Mediterranean - Continental
The climate in the Montesanco vineyards is continental Mediterranean, with hot summers during the day, with temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, and night temperatures that do not exceed 18 degrees Celsius. Harsh winters, sometimes dropping below -10 degrees Celsius. Rainfall is irregular, resembling the Mediterranean pattern, between 420 and 520 liters/m² with dry periods in summer and quite rainy springs and autumns.
